YFU stands for Youth For Understanding, which is the organization that is arranging my exchange in Switzerland. They also provide me with lots of help, resources, and orientations. For more information, feel free to read about YFU on its website https://about.yfu.org/, or if you are interested in the programs it offers go to https://www.yfu.org/.
What language are you learning?
Switzerland recognizes four national languages: German, Italian, French, and Romansh. I have been taking French in school for two years, so I am living in "suisse romande" where they speak French. Luckily however, they don't use the French numbers!
Where do you live?
I live with my host family in a small village in the canton of Fribourg (not to be confused with the city of Fribourg where I go to school), that is pretty close to Romont, called Prez-verz-Siviriez.

How long will you be in Switzerland?
I will be in Switzerland for a little less than a full year, and will probably be returning some time in late June after I finish school.
Will you be coming back for Christmas?
No, I will staying with my family for the full duration of my exchange unless I stop going to school and am sent home. I would want to be in Switzerland for Christmas anyway, because I would love to be a part of that cultural aspect, and I will hopefully get to sing midnight mass with my choir. I am also excited to teach my host family English Christmas carols and go skiing with the other exchange students!
